Unless this afternoon's appointment yields something very different, the baby now has a deadline. He seems pretty content right where he is, so our doctor has decided to induce labor. We go in Thursday at 7 a.m. I'm nervous about induction - I've heard some awful stories about the bad contractions it produces - but there are pros and cons.
Technically, this is an "elective induction," but our doctor has mentioned that he doesn't want the baby to be so big that I can't deliver. He didn't seem overly worried about it, but he doesn't like his patients to go more than a week past their due dates. We'll be five days past ours.
And on the pro side, my doctor is on call Thursday nights, so even if it was a LONG labor, we'd still have him delivering instead of some other OB.
I'm pretty anxious about everything - delivery, recovery, mothering a tiny infant - so PLEASE pray for us. It would make me feel a lot better to know friends and family are praying.
