More smiles

Jessi's kids requested more videos, so here's another. When a baby is only 5 weeks old, there's not a ton of variation in his activities. Our videos right now are all pretty similar - adorable baby waving his arms about, making hilarious faces and offering the rare smile.

Noah and friends

With Chase and Jeremiah

With Daddy and Bryan

With Conner (who's nice enough to pass on his outgrown clothes), Emily and Marlene.

And with his best friends of all...

False Alarm...

It's not colic! There for a while Noah was really cranky and crying all the time (and I was losing it). We were afraid we had a colicky baby. But the pediatrician diagnosed him with reflux and prescribed baby zantac. The last several days have been really good. I think the meds have finally made his belly feel better and it's made a huge difference to all three of us. Either the meds helped, he finished a growth spurt, or we're getting better at parenting. Whatever the cause, he's a happier baby and we're a happier family.

He's beginning to sleep longer at night, three to four hours at a time, which means we get two or three hours of sleep in a row. I thought that would never happen again. Of course, the more sleep I get, it seems the more I need. I'm actually starting to believe those people who keep saying we'll sleep through the night someday.

Noah's beginning to smile and gurgle and interact now and it's really exciting. It's like he's acknowledging us now - it makes all the headache/heartache of the last five weeks worth it. Nursing is going a lot better for both of us. He still fights me a little when I latch him, but I think I've just gotten used to it. It's not sending me into tears anymore. Overall, we're doing really well and I hope and pray this is for good and not just a temporary lull. Thanks for all the calls, emails, and prayers when we were having such a hard time. We appreciate it - keep 'em coming!

Waking up is hard to do

No, there's no one tickling his feet. This is his regular wake-up routine. Pretty adorable, eh?

Learning to smile

Noah's starting to smile and gurgle and it is wonderful to watch.

Lots of cuteness

Tummy time with Daddy.
Sleeping like a ..... baby
An early smile Just not the same as the pacifier...

Sweet Sweet Baby

Mama and Noah - both tired all the time

One of these days I'll get DJ to take a picture of me looking less haggard and wiped out - assuming that someday I actually do look less haggard and wiped out. But that's motherhood, so I suppose these pictures are pretty representative.

Cutest Daddy Ever

If I wasn't head over heels in love with him before, seeing Danny as a dad would do it... he is just amazing with Noah. I have the best husband in the world. Not only does he help out with everything from diapers to burping to washing dishes, but he loves on his son in the sweetest ways. Y'all should see them together.

Progress Report

Noah is now 12 days old and doing well. The photo above shows what we spend a lot of our time doing. He needs the suckling, but I don't want to introduce a paci until breastfeeding is really well established. So Danny and I are human pacifiers, especially around 1 a.m.

The first week was really rough. Between trying to recover from delivering a 9 lb baby, getting zero sleep, and struggling with breastfeeding, I was a basketcase. Danny basically held me together, even when he was exhausted from the late nights. (Noah has his days and nights crossed.)

We visited a lactation expert several times and nursing is finally beginning to go a lot smoother. I nearly gave up, but with Danny's constant support, I stuck it out and I'm so glad I did. Noah and I are both doing a lot better at it. The bruiser has an appetite. Now I know how milk cows feel!

He's a very good baby. He doesn't cry a whole lot, although when he does, he can really wail. He sleeps great and we hope we can get him switched to sleeping great at night instead of during the day. He's a bit of a spitter, but we can live with that. He makes the funniest faces and sounds - we could sit and stare at him for hours. He is absolutely delightful. We are so very very blessed.

The most adorable creature on the planet

Lots of Doting Relatives

Noah Sebastian with Grandpa. They say babies don't smile until they're a month or so, but this sure looks like a smile. Maybe it's just practice but it sure is sweet.

Pop with a sleepy Noah. This is their first grandchild and he is just proud as punch.

Granny and Noah. I love the face on that boy. Can you get any cuter?

Noah with Aunt Deva and Aunt Dana.
They don't like him a bit, can you tell?

Home Again, Home Again

Here are lots more photos for y'all. These were taken at various times over the first week and a half. Here's a shot of the very tired family.
